The Capitol - Salt Lake City

Our next stopover was the Capitol - a splendid monument of immense proportions standing regally in the midst of extensive and sprawling green lawns. It was even more impressive than the Capitol at Washington D.C. Intially we just drove around and viewed the amazing structure from outside. We then decided to go in and have a peep inside. What we saw was an stunning spectacle of incredible grace and beauty. Being a Sunday all the offices and chambers including Senate Hall & Supreme Court were closed.
The State Capitol is one of Utah’s most prominent landmarks. Designed by local architect Richard K. A. Kletting, the Capitol has been home to state government since its opening in 1916. Each year, thousands of people visit the Capitol to witness its modern magnificence and historic significance. The building houses the chambers of the Utah State Legislature, the offices of the Governor and Lt.Governor of Utah & The Supreme Court. It is located on Capitol Hill overlooking downtown Salt Lake City.

  12. Superb pictures. Is it the camera you were using here in India. As The crack would have considerably reduced its sound.
